


By air
Jorge Chávez International Airport is considered one of the most important airports for making connections to all of the world's major cities.
By land
The Pan American Highway connects the city of Lima with all of the Peruvian cities on the coast, as well as Ecuador to the North and Chile to the south. Lima is connected to the highlands and the jungle by the Central Highway and the Marginal Highway.
By sea: Lima has the country's most important port, the Port of Callao, where large vessels and cruise ships dock.
The Main Plaza ("Plaza Mayor")
The plaza was the center of the city in colonial times. A bronze statue dating from the seventeenth century stands out in the center of the plaza, which is surrounded by the Cathedral, the Government Palace and Lima City Hall.
The Lima Cathedral
The original Cathedral was destroyed by an earthquake in 1741 and subsequently rebuilt. It holds true jewels of history such as the Baltasar Noguera choir stalls, several side altars and Francisco Pizarro's remains.
Acho Bullfighting Ring
The oldest bullfighting ring in America has a bullfighting museum with a collection of memorabilia such as suits, capes, swords, posters and paintings by well-known artists.
Pachacámac Archaeological Complex
This complex was the main ceremonial center on the Peruvian coast since before the times of the Incas. The Temple of the Sun and the Acllahuasi, built during the era of Inca domination (1440-1533), stand out.
Villa Marshlands Reserve ("Pantanos de Villa")
This is one of the most important refuges for over 150 species of birds, among which there are 30 migratory species from all over the continent.
Saint Rose of Lima Church and Monastery
This architectural complex was built during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries next to the house where Saint Rose of Lima, the patron Saint of Lima, America and the Philippines, was born.
Torre Tagle Palace
Currently the Ministry of Foreign Relations, it was built at the beginning of the eighteenth century. Its stone doorway and two carved, wooden balconies stand out.
Art Museum
This museum has an interesting collection of ceramic pieces, textiles, stone artifacts, organic material and bones from Pre Hispanic Peruvian cultures, in addition to Cusco-school paintings and colonial furniture.

Santa Rosa de Lima (August 30):
Pilgrimages are made to the district of Quives in the province of Canta, where the patron saint of Lima once lived. In the capital, people visit the monastery, where the faithful write their intentions on pieces of paper and throw them into the well.
Month of Our Lord of Miracles (October)
Religious fervor is evident in the presence of the sacred painted image. Processions are held on different days, with the image of the Lord on a litter transported on a trailer to different parts of the city.
